Caring For Our Relatives

The Indigenous Dermatology Guide

The Indigenous Dermatology Guide began as a We Are Healers project focused on re-centering skin health within Indigenous frameworks of care. What started as a student-led initiative has grown into a broader community collaboration in partnership with Ahnoven.

The Guide is designed to provide culturally grounded dermatologic education that integrates Indigenous knowledge, lived experience, traditional ecological and medicinal practices, and clinical best practices. Through sustained community partnership, this project aims to strengthen skin health literacy in Native communities while ensuring that educational resources reflect community priorities and sovereignty.

This collaboration reflects our commitment to building resources with community — not for community.
